Snowbasin Resort Begins Making Snow

With the 19–20 winter season just one month away, Snowbasin is committed to offering an upgraded guest experience.

Snowbasin Snow Making 2019Snowbasin, UT (October 27, 2019) — With the recent cold temperatures, Snowbasin Resort was thrilled to fire up its snow guns this morning, with expanded coverage from previous years. Snowbasin plans to open on Wednesday, November 27th with multiple improvements to create a better guest experience.

“With the 2019-2020 winter season approaching, we are thrilled about the big improvements our staff has been working on all summer and fall to enhance the guest experience starting this winter season. Between the renovations to Earl’s Lodge, additional on-mountain snowmaking on Mt. Ogden Bowl Road, the relocation of the on-mountain clinic to the base area, expansion of new family zone specific runs, additional parking and welcoming back NASTAR we invite you to join us this winter. Experience the new improvements and start the season with our opening day celebration on Wednesday, November 27th,” says General Manager, Davy Ratchford.

The servery in Earl’s Lodge received a major upgrade that will improve guest flow and speed of service with additional grab-and-go options, elevated food quality and new food and beverage stations. Snowbasin’s favorite menu items like the cheese fries will remain. Guests can enjoy a new craft beer station, coffee bar, breakfast station and other upgrades.

Last summer, significant resources were invested to create a better intermediate experience off the John Paul Express lift with the widening of Mt. Ogden Bowl Road. This improved experience was exceptionally well received by guests and opened up more skiing and riding to that area of the mountain for many. This winter Snowbasin plans to have an accelerated opening of John Paul Express with the installment of snowmaking on Mt. Ogden Bowl Road.

In addition, Snowbasin is removing the medical clinic from the base of Wildcat Express and building a new location in the base area. That space will provide easier access to Wildcat Express for all guests and expand the beginner terrain footprint in the base area. Snowbasin is grateful for the long-standing partnership with Intermountain Health Care.

With Snowbasin’s continued effort to improve Bear Hollow and grow the Family Zone, Snowbasin created a new gladed tree skiing area specifically made for families and kids, known as “Bear Hollow Woods.” Snowbasin’s Mountain Operations Team also added another advanced run off of Wildcat Express.

Snowbasin plans to increase parking capacity by 12% through multiple initiatives that include better snow removal and overflow parking with increased shuttle service.

Snowbasin is pleased to welcome NASTAR back to the resort, the largest public grassroots ski racing program in the world. NASTAR brings greater awareness to the sport by motivating participants of all ages to get involved in ski racing. The NASTAR course will be on Showboat operating Friday, Saturday and Sundays throughout the season starting December 13, weather dependent. NASTAR season passes are on sale now. Prices start at $99 and single-day options will be available day of.

Snowbasin has partnered with the Epic Pass for the 2019-2020 season. Epic, Epic Local, and Epic 4-7 Day Passes all can enjoy Snowbasin and the upgrades using their allocated days. To learn more visit www.snowbasin.com or call 801-620-1000.
