ELITE ATHLETES TO COMPETE AT DEER VALLEY’S 2017 VISA FREESTYLE INTERNATIONAL FIS WORLD CUP

RESORT HOSTS ANNUAL EVENT FOR 15TH YEAR

DEER VALLEY RESORT; PARK CITY, UTAH (December 2016) – The world's best aerial and mogul skiers will take to Deer Valley Resort's slopes again this winter to compete in the 2017 Visa Freestyle International FIS World Cup, held Wednesday, February 1 through Saturday, February 4, 2017. Regarded as one of the best venues in the international freestyle community, Deer Valley Resort has played host to international and world competitions for 18 consecutive years, including the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, two World Championships and 15 World Cups. This year will prepare the resort to host the 2019 FIS Freestyle, Snowboard and Freeski World Championships in conjunction with Park City Mountain and Deer Valley’s own Solitude Mountain Resort.

“The FIS Freestyle World Cup brings the highest level of freestyle competitors and athletes to the resort each year,” said Bob Wheaton, president and general manager of Deer Valley Resort. “We look forward to hosting this event again and the opportunity it provides to our visiting guests and locals to view an event of this caliber.”

The spectator-friendly World Cup competitions are free to the public and will be held at night under the lights at Deer Valley Resort. The crowd-pleasing event kicks off with a free concert by The Revivalists on lower Main Street in Historic Park City, Wednesday, February 1 from 7 to 10 p.m., with a fireworks show immediately following.

The freestyle competition begins Thursday evening, February 2, 2017, with men's and women's mogul competitions scheduled on Champion ski run beginning at 7 p.m. Friday night brings the flight of the men's and women's aerial competitions held on White Owl ski run at 8 p.m. The conclusion of the events will feature the men's and women's dual mogul competitions scheduled for Saturday evening on Champion ski run at 

7 p.m. Finals for all disciplines will take place each evening, with a firework display concluding each night. Each discipline will also be filmed and televised. The mogul and aerial competitions will air on NBC Sports Network on Saturday, February 4, 2017, beginning at 9 p.m. EST and the dual mogul event will air on NBC on Sunday, February 5, 2017, at 3:30 p.m. EST.

For an enhanced spectator experience, Freestyle Feast VIP tickets are available for the mogul, aerial and dual mogul competitions. Tickets provide special access to the on-hill events, a gourmet buffet, beverages in the VIP tent and a commemorative gift.
