If you really want to earn your beer and prefer a truly daunting uphill challenge, register for Discrete’s Cirque Series race at Snowbird on September 7. The 8.7-mile course will wind in an upward direction with 3,566 feet of vertical gain from the Creekside Village, up toward Mid-Gad, into Peruvian Gulch, and on up past the Hidden Peak Summit into Mineral Basin. One of Salt Lake’s newer breweries, Fisher Brewing, will be hosting an afterparty from 9 PM until midnight.

Join Snowbird for the longest-running Oktoberfest in Utah. For it’s 47th year, Snowbird’s Oktoberfest features a beer garden, Oktoberfest halle entertainment (music and dancing), stage music, and the bellowing of alphorns on Hidden Peak at 3 PM. The acoustics are fine at Deer Valley Resort’s Snow Park outdoor amphitheater. Spread a blanket on the sloping lawn and enjoy big names like Ben Harper and Lukas Nelson.
