Sundance Mountain Resort, situated in the very heart of Provo Canyon, creates an ideal nook for incredible autumnal enjoyment. However, many aren’t aware of the spooky happenings at Sundance once the sun dips behind the Oquirrh Mountains to the west. As the shadow of looming Mount Timpanogos smothers the fading light, the ghouls, scarecrows, ghosts and witches of Halloween emerge for a wild rumpus.
If there’s anything Utahns truly love more than fireworks and the 24th of July, it’s surely the act of getting spooked, visiting a haunted house, or crashing through a sinister cornfield come autumn. Sundance’s annual haunted Halloween lift rides offer crisp and creepy fun for all our fall thrill seekers.
Ideal for a cuddly romantic date or a fun family night out, Sundance’s Halloween Lift Rides whisk riders through the murky night for 30-45 minutes on the Outlaw Express Lift. Food trucks, hot chocolate, snacks and concessions are available in addition to blankets and sweatshirts.
The Halloween Lift Rides are indeed pretty scary though they are intended to be family-friendly! If your kiddo spooks easily, it might be best to skip this one. The chairlifts soar over haunted graveyards, menacing scarecrows, ghosts and pirates. It’s especially fun if you can coordinate your visit with the new moon (October 25, 2022) to maximize the scare factor.
It’s recommended to dress warm and you may bring your own blankets. Hats, thick socks and hand warmers are especially welcome on chillier nights! Upon completing your haunted lap, there will be plenty of warm food and hot drinks available around Sundance’s Lower Village.
If romance is your thing, I highly recommend this experience as a date night. There’s no better excuse to cuddle and huddle together! Afterward, grab a warm drink or a steaming pile of nachos in the intimate and romantic Owl Bar
