Sometimes we all just want to be a little boujee, no judgment here. After all, you are skiing The Greatest Snow on Earth®, so you might as well treat yourself as such. And what better way to do so after a long day on the slopes than with a little glitzy après ski. Unwind, socialize, and sip a well-deserved beverage. Whether you’re popping bottles of champagne, or cozying up by the fire with a warm hot toddy, here are six luxurious après bars surely to appease your inner boujee heart.
First up, Deer Valley Resort. The resort where you’re most likely to bump shoulders with celebrities, it’s no wonder it’s home to some of the most opulent après bars. So much so, that we had to include two bars from Deer Valley to reside on this list.
1. St. Regis Deer Valley Champagne Sabrage
Nothing says boujee more than a good ol’ champagne sabering. Every evening at 5:30 pm throughout the winter, head up the funicular to The St. Regis Deer Valley's Mountain Terrace and enjoy a free glass of bubbly. The bartender officially kicks off the après with a narration of the Napoleonic roots of champagne sabering as they slide the saber against the neck of the bottle, then pour a free round for the whole patio to clink glasses with.
2. Montage Deer Valley Après Lounge
Looking for caviar, local cheese charcuterie boards, and smoked fish all while cozying up in a swanky yurt? Look no further than the Montage’s Après Lounge. Located in Empire Village, directly behind The Montage, is one of two five-star hotels in Utah. Cozy up by the fire and get real fancy at this venue sponsored by Veuve Clicquot Champagne.
3. The Aerie at Snowbird Resort
After you’re on cloud nine from skiing all day, head to cloud 10. Located on the 10th floor of Cliff Lodge at Snowbird, the Aerie will not disappoint with its stunning floor-to-ceiling windows. Known for its award-winning wine list, this après will have you channeling your inner sommelier with hundreds of options from vintners across the globe. Sit by a glowing fireplace, order a chilled lobster tail, and enjoy some live music. Boujee, check.
4. The Gulch Pub at Alta
In 2019 Alta's newest, and by far, the swankiest building opened. Enter The Snowpine Lodge. Its mission is to reflect the charm of our past in Utah while embodying the tasteful elegance found in the best ski lodges across the globe. You’ll still be able to find original mining walls mixed with a cozy mountain modern style, which is exactly what you’ll get at The Gulch Pub. A perfect upscale spot that still has a casual lodge feel.
5. The Owl at Sundance Resort
Once frequented by Butch Cassidy, this après bar screams old western charm. This restored 1890's bar was moved from Thermopolis, Wyoming where it now resides at Sundance Mountain Resort. Every Friday and Saturday night you can catch live music from local and national artists as you savor some seasonal menu items and explore the excellent scotch selection. It’s a more laid-back atmosphere but swanky nonetheless. And be sure to order the nachos. You can thank me later.
6. Cinnabar Lounge Snowbasin Resort
Named after the local gemstone, this après bar vibe reflects its namesake with its magnificent red color and soft feel. From the magnificent red chandeliers to the plush red lounge-style seating, the Cinnabar at Snowbasin Resort is the perfect spot to cozy up and unwind. This elevated gastropub is casual with a hint of boujee. Snag yourself a Winter Mule, or a Maple Cinnamon Bourbon, and even enjoy live music (on weekends). Oh and don’t forget to hit the restroom, yes, you heard that correctly. This restroom was a finalist for America’s Best Restroom.
It’s okay to give yourself a little glitz and glam after skiing some of the most iconic mountains in the world. If you’re looking for permission to indulge, here it is, you deserve it. If you’re already a connoisseur of the finer things in life, well, get down with your boujee self. Now it’s time to add Migos’s “Bad and Boujee” to the top of your ski playlist and round out your day at one of these fabulous après bars. Go ahead, be boujee.
