Just over a year ago, Deer Valley Resort launched its Expanded Excellence initiative, a multi-year plan to add 3,700 acres of terrain, 16 new lifts and 135 runs for all abilities. You can explore the first phase of the expansion this season with new terrain, lifts and parking!
Deer Valley is a brand synonymous with excellence. Excellent snow, excellent service, excellent views, and excellent facilities.
There is a lot to cover, so let’s look at what you can look forward to this season.
The 2024–25 Season
Expanded Terrain
Deer Valley has added 300 acres of new terrain this season including 20 new ski runs. Located east of Bald Mountain, the added terrain features jaw-dropping views.
A few runs you won’t want to miss are Lady of the Lake, Waterloo, and Lakeshore because they deliver breathtaking views of the Jordanelle Reservoir as you navigate down the mountain. Just make sure you don’t get too distracted! If you notice a water theme, these names follow Deer Valley's tradition of naming ski runs after historic mining claims, specifically, these were named after claims that featured water in honor of their lake views.
New Chairlifts
Now open, three new chairlifts provide service from Deer Valley East Village to the expanded terrain. Keetley Express, a detachable 6-pack bubble, provides access from East Village to the rest of the ski area via the Sulton Express chairlift or the Mayflower chairlift.
The Hoodoo Express and Aurora chairlifts serve a large area of beginner-friendly terrain while also providing connections from other areas of the mountain.
A fascinating bit of history is tied to the Keetley Express, which is named after the historic town of Keetley. Founded in 1875 during Utah’s mining boom, Keetley was originally known as Camp Florence before being renamed after Jack Keetley, a Pony Express rider and mining supervisor. The town was eventually filled in with water to create the Jordanelle Reservoir, which you can now see from some of the new runs. Keetley is also the first bubble lift at Deer Valley.
Deer Valley East Village Facilities
For the 2024-25 season, skier services including ski rentals, complimentary ski storage, and ticketing will be available in Deer Valley East Village. They’ll be housed in a temporary building until the permanent facility is constructed, maintaining an exceptional guest experience while the resort continues to grow.
500 Additional Parking Spaces
Along with all the new amenities comes another convenience. Deer Valley East Village offers 500 new parking spaces easily accessed off U.S. Route 40, which bypasses downtown Park City getting you to the mountain faster. Fun fact, this route allows guests to drive directly from Salt Lake City International Airport to the parking area without hitting a single stoplight. Complementary shuttles transport guests from the parking area to the skier services building and lifts, with an additional stop at the brand new Grand Hyatt.
Not to Miss ... Chute Eleven Yurt
Deer Valley is introducing some other features this season. Be sure to visit the new ski-in/ski-out Champagne Yurt, "Chute Eleven," located next to Empire Lodge—its name is a nod to the iconic Daly Chutes. Featuring signature cocktails, indulgent small bites, music, and a lively atmosphere, this latest addition to the resort’s après lineup is now open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. throughout the 2024-2025 ski season.
“Chute Eleven brings a fresh, new après experience to Empire Canyon, adding yet another way for Deer Valley guests to kick back and revel in another perfect day of skiing,” said Jacob Musyt, Deer Valley Vice President of Food & Beverage. “No matter where they choose to ‘cheers’ at the end of their runs, guests will receive the same attention to detail and unrivaled guest service our Deer Valley team offers at every edge of the mountain.”
Chute Eleven offers indoor and outdoor seating so you can choose to warm up inside or soak in mountain views slopeside. It is also home to Slopeside Sets @ Chute Eleven—a series of intimate DJ sets hosted by your favorite artists.
More Excellence to Come
While hard to believe, the expansion this season is just a sneak peek compared with what’s to come. The 2025–26 ski season is expected to bring seven additional chairlifts, including a 10-passenger gondola, nearly 100 new ski runs, and 700 additional parking spaces.
When all phases of the expansion are complete, Deer Valley will be one of the largest ski resorts in North America. The permanent Deer Valley East Village facilities will include a ski school, children’s programs, rentals, and retail shopping. Additionally, a reimagined Snow Park is planned along with a new base village and revitalization of existing mountain facilities.
While much is changing, Deer Valley continues to provide the same iconic guest experience its brand is built on. Now you can enjoy the same Deer Valley excellence you expect while exploring new terrain, new lifts, and new runs with breathtaking views. Learn more about Deer Valley Resort here.
