Nothing beats a full bell-to-bell day slashing through snow on the slopes. As you carve back to the base on your last run of the day, most minds start shifting to the après options for the afternoon. If you’re riding at Snowbasin, Powder Mountain, or Nordic Valley, Ogden is the closest town with an après scene. You can choose from a great selection of places to unwind around town depending on your mood, from cozy to laidback to lively.
Sure, you can find a few restaurants to stop at in Eden or Huntsville before heading back through the canyon if you can’t wait. But Ogden offers a wider range for those looking to keep the fun going after a day on the mountain. While much of après tends to focus on the bar scene, there are plenty of other ways to keep the fun going after the last lift stops spinning.
Whether you’re looking for a nice meal, a delectable dessert, or another fun activity or entertainment, you have no shortage of choices. Ogden’s scene is full of warm, inviting spots perfect for après, whether you’re craving comfort food or something more gourmet. Kick off your boots, stretch out those sore legs, and unwind with these options for après in Ogden after an unmatched day on the slopes.
Dining
You can’t go wrong starting your après in Ogden off with a delicious dinner. There are plenty of can’t-miss restaurants throughout downtown and beyond but here are a few of my favorites that you should check out next time you’re riding at one of the local resorts.
Roosters Brewing Co.
Nestled in a century-old restored building in downtown Ogden, Rooster's Brewing Co. is a staple of 25th Street dining. Roosters is a go-to place for Ogden locals and a great spot for some après appetizers or dinner. Try the Loaded Nachos or Beehive Cheese Curds for the table and opt for the Roosters Mac & Cheese if you’re feeling comfort food or the Brewhouse Burger for a classic post-ski meal.
Ramen Haus
A warm bowl of ramen is the perfect way to kick off your après in Ogden. Start your meal with mouthwatering gyoza or taro fries, then pick your favorite type of ramen for your main course. Ramen Haus offers vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options so everyone in your group can find something that meets their needs.
Lucky Slice Pizza
Whether you opt for a quick piece of pizza-by-the-slice or wait for a pie of your own, Lucky Slice Pizza is another can’t-miss mainstay of 25th Street. This New York-style pizza spot has traditional options like pepperoni and margherita, but they also include their creative spin. For example, their current monthly special is the Sweater Weather pizza, a sweet potato/pumpkin puree base, mozzarella, spiced pecans, crumbled bacon, and maple glaze drizzle. Lucky Slice is an awesome choice for après in Ogden.
Dessert
Dinner and dessert are as perfect a pair as skiing and snow, so why deny yourself a delightful dessert after a good dinner? Check out a few of my favorite dessert spots in Ogden below if you want to finish off your meal with a sweet treat.
La Crepe OG
You can’t do dessert après in Ogden without checking out La Crepe OG. This place is everything you expect from a photo-op dessert spot that tastes as delightful as it looks. This downtown dessert spot’s claim to fame is its over-the-top milkshakes accompanied by an assortment of snacks, like the dessert version of a Bloody Mary. Their most popular gourmet shakes include Churro, Strawberry Cheesecake, and the Banana Split. You’re guaranteed a treat no matter which one you try!
Bow Tie Creamery
Sometimes a classic cup or cone of ice cream is the best accompaniment to an aprè ski dinner. Ogden Bow Tie Creamery is a small-batch ice cream shop that churns up standard flavors available year-round, such as vanilla custard, mint chip, salted butter caramel, pralines & cream, and key lime pie. They also have a batch of rotating monthly flavors that match the season and keep things fresh.
Criss Cross Macarons
If baked goods are more your style, Criss Cross Macarons is a quick, local stop for a delightful selection of handcrafted macarons. Get a full box of your favorites or opt to try some of their seasonal flavors that change throughout the year. You can also find an assortment of other baked goods like cookies and pastries. This spot is a baked goods lover’s dream!
Activities
After filling up with a warm meal and treating yourself to a sweet (or three), some might want to head home for the evening and gear up for the next ski day. Others want to keep the excitement going and would rather find another activity for their après. You’re guaranteed a good time with any of the options below!
Wiseguys
Wiseguys Comedy Club has a location on 25th Street in Ogden right next to Roosters and is an excellent choice for those who want a laugh at the end of the day. Most weekends you’ll find a stand-up comedy act that offers another great way to unwind after a long ski day.
Peery’s Egyptian Theater
Peery’s Egyptian Theater hosts various shows and events from film festivals to music events to live theater and ballet. If you’re more on the artsy side, you might find a show that fits your taste as an alternative approach to après.
Live Music
Live music is never a bad option for those looking for an enjoyable après ski evening. Ogden is home to lots of local venues that host live music in their establishments. Depending on the day of the week, you can listen to live music at eateries like Slackwater, Warrens Craft Burger, or Gandy Dancer Mercantile, or amble out to the bars for live entertainment at Brewskis, The Thirsty Horse, or Kamikazes.
Whether you’re winding down from a high-energy day at Snowbasin, Powder Mountain, or Nordic Valley, Ogden’s après scene has something for the whole family. Next time you hit the slopes, don’t rush home right away. Kick back, try something new, and savor every moment of your evening of après and Visit Ogden! It’s the perfect place to stop on your way home from a day on the slopes up north.
