Utah, having The Greatest Snow on Earth® and being home to 15 world-class resorts, means there is no shortage of options to learn how to ski or level up your skills. That sounds awesome! But I can see how this could lead to analysis paralysis for our many visitors each winter and perhaps even some of our locals.
So, I’ve compiled the starting prices for private lessons at each Utah resort as well as the most affordable within the three regions (Northern Utah, the Wasatch Range, and Southern Utah)
(NOTE: unless kid pricing is specifically mentioned, these private lessons are for guests age 3+)
Let’s start with the three most affordable private lessons in all of Utah.
- Opened in 1939 and the oldest continuously-owned family ski resort in the U.S., Beaver Mountain offers one-hour private lessons starting at $90.
- Brighton has earned the reputation as “The Place Where Utah Learns to Ski and Ride,” and they offer private lessons starting at $145 for one hour.
- Touting “The Eagle Point Method” with uncrowded slopes that don’t have the distractions and obstacles often found at larger resorts, Eagle Point offers private lessons starting at $150 for one hour.
- SPECIAL MENTION: New to the 2024-2025 season, Brian Head Ski Resort offers a free on-snow program for first-time skiers and boarders ages 13 and older. Get a free 2.5 hour introductory group lesson with the purchase of a lift ticket ($30). Ski and snowboard rentals are also available for $25.
Each of these resorts with the most affordable ski lessons also falls within the three regions I’ve broken out for the sake of this blog. Let’s dive into how they compare with their neighboring resorts. Keep in mind, that these are published rates as of October 2024 and are subject to change based on availability, time of year, etc. This is meant to give you a starting point for where to find lessons in your area that fit your budget.

I said it before, and I’ll repeat it: There is no shortage of lessons available to help you learn or improve your ski and snowboarding ability. Whether you are planning your epic ski vacation to Utah or a local looking to enjoy the outdoors this winter, a lesson is a great way to ramp up your excitement.
Other things to consider as you book your lesson:
- Location (Where in the state is most convenient for you?)
- Total cost (Some resorts may include the lift ticket in the lesson price, and others allow kids under a certain age to ski for free.)
- Ski vs. Snowboard (Two resorts in Utah (Deer Valley and Alta) are ski-only and do not provide snowboard lessons.)
- Equipment and rentals (Some resorts offer package deals that may include equipment rentals, which can be a great option for out-of-state visitors or locals who aren’t ready to commit to buying their own gear.)
Now, it’s time to book your lesson(s)! Many resorts have opened their online booking platforms, and it’s highly recommended that you book lessons in advance. Have fun!
